The Worldwide Sleigh Ride calendar is not fixed in stone at this point (Early Dec 2021). In fact it is going to be partly up to the Peoples to decide through a poll on Telegram.
The end point is very likely to be Twelfth Night (Jan 5-6). It's a little fuzzy because different cultures around the world use slightly different dates.
As far as the kickoff, it looks like one of these choices: start of Advent (Sunday closest to Nov 30); start of Nativity (40 days before Christmas); St Martin's Day (Nov 11); Black Friday; or maybe even Cyber Monday.
Your host is not a holy roller, not a church-going, by-the-book type. Not at all. But the idea of fixing the WSR calendar to religious dates is very appealing in the sense that it's not anchored to the commercialization of the season.
NOTE: Yeah, the project is designed as a rolling format (not a single event). Flexible and casual right now. But it's clear that, as the project grows, then fixed dates will be important to keep things organized and on track.
For the inaugural 2021 season most everything is up in the air. Black Friday start? December 1st start? Not sure. This year will just be a rough trial run and sort of a raw homemade show. But many of the important elements should be present so Peoples can glimpse the future possibilities. The 2022 season will be ramping up before you know it.
The schedule in mind for 2022 and beyond is that during each holiday season the show will be offered on a "rolling" basis -- meaning the first segment is released on, say, Black Friday or thereabouts (weekend after Thanksgiving). And then additional segments are released once per week right up until Christmas Eve or Christmas Day or even New Years Eve.
So, it wouldn't be a one-off event each year. It would be a rolling event (a series of weekly events) that happens over the period of late Nov thru late Dec each year. Then perhaps finally replay all of the segments combined together as a full show -- on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day (or whatever maybe updated repeats released until early January). The internet allows for this kind of flexibility.
It will be fun to build an archive of the WSR seasons. Become an early adopter! You will want to tell your grandchildren that you were there at the beginning etc. And you better have some proof. Ha.
[UPDATE: Now seriously considering officially extending the WSR season to include the traditional "12 Days of Christmas" holiday period right up until Twelfth Night/Epiphany. So that would be approximately Jan 5-6. This is the very traditional observance of the Christmas season (very old school in the style of the Eastern Orthodox Church). Interestingly, many assume the 12 Days of Christmas are the days leading up to Dec 25, but that is actually incorrect -- although many countries differ on specific dates.]
